Can't imagine too many other serving pieces that have such a wonderful presentation as this one!  The floral pattern is clearly marked "sterling".  It is not a named pattern, looks like lilies to us, few petals and very visible pistils. These center handled trays are the workhorse of entertaining, they are elegant, perfect for Bridal Showers, Weddings and Tea Parties.

Paden City Glass Company was founded in West Virginia by David Fisher in 1916.  David had experience by previously managing the New Martinsville Glass Co.  He started by using purchased molds from the Higbee Glass Co that had recently closed, so he was very successful from the start.  In 1933 David passed away and his son, Samuel Fisher took over the company.  Paden is known to have sold blanks (undecorated) pieces to other companies. Paden City glass was never signed, they used paper labels, so it's hard to identify their pieces without a lot of research.  Unfortunately Paden City did not automate their glass making in time and were unable to compete with others producing faster and at less cost.  The company closed its doors in September 1951. They are best known for their mouth blown glass and the intricately etched glass pieces. As it relates to this piece, these sterling silver pieces were expensive to make, not many can be found that were manufactured after the mid-1930s.
